So as some of you may recall, I damaged my windshield wiper **** in my 1980 F-150 while taking my dash bezel out. Like all the other switches, *****, and levers in the truck it was already looking ratty, so I wouldn't mind getting a new one.
However, LMC (haven't checked elsewhere) wants $49.95 for a new one. Looking at their catalog (clicky), though, I see that the same **** for the 85-86 trucks is only $9.95. So...what's the difference? Anyone know?
That's it? They're BLACK? So if I trust Galendor's math, I'm paying an extra $40 for shiny paint? Do they attach with the same clip the older ***** do?
I'm thinking I can buy the $10 ****, spend $5 on a can of shiny spray paint, and come out $35 ahead of the game.

If you go that route, let me know how it works out. I'd like to replace my *****, but that price put me off also when I looked at them last year.
Yeah, I'd go for the black ones and save the money.
One problem I have with LMC Truck though: everything I have ever bought from them is made in China or thereabouts. Everything. I appreciate that they are a source of hard to find parts, but a part of me doesn't like putting chinese parts on my truck.
***** from the 70's all the way to '91 fit the headlights and wipers. Hit up a wrecking yard, they should be easy to find.
Are you certain that the older ***** fit the same? Looking at the LMC catalog for dentsides (clicky), they have what does look like my ****, for $9.95...but it has a different part number than the chrome **** listed for my year.
But if you're pretty sure they both use that clip for attachment, I'll probably go with it...because I have never, not once, been able to go to a junkyard and get whatever I was looking for in one trip. I know people here swear by them, but for me they're cursed.

Good to know. So Galendor, where can we get replacement parts of good quality that are made in the United States?

I agree. Almost everything I have bought from them was Chinese junk that didn't fit right.

Although pricey, Dennis Carpenter Reproductions has good quality parts.

Oftimes you cannot. Motorcraft was the Ford brand, so Motorcraft parts are historically good. But nowadays they are more often made in Mexico or even the far east. The world has moved on since our trucks. Ford has no reliable online parts catalogue; you can do better by going to the local dealership and asking for parts.
For USA made parts, old stock Motorcraft or used junkyard seem to be good sources. We are oft forced into a vampiric existence, parasitising used parts from broken hulks left in ruin. I suspect that those of us with even older model trucks know this cruel reality very well...
