The local Ford dealer doesn't know what he is talking about! As long as the trucks are both PSD trucks and have the same transmission, you're good to go.

My mistake talked to my friend he thought his truck was a 97 turns out it was a 98 different PCM. Found a used one today getting it reflashed will post the results

1 used PCM and a reflash were back on the road again. My PCM had a hole in the case where in rest in the steel holder. Im sure aluminun and steel dont like each other not a very good design. A plastic holder would not cause as much corrosion. Have a few more questions can a PCM be reflashed without the vehicle? Are the IDM from 95 to 97 the same?
Seems PCM are getting scarce up here was thinking of pick up a spare. What is the best RPM for this engine to run?
