Question 97-F150 - replace bumber

Hello,

I had a little accident and simply need to replace my bumber. I am pretty sure I can do it but I would like to know if there are any _free_ documentation manuals online someplace for this truck?

Thanks for the help!

97-F150 - replace bumber

I need a new rear bumper for my flareside...........I call the junk yard every week (checking new inventory). Still trying to find one after 3 months. I will NOT PAY 400+ at these online junk yards. That is crazy. I do not see it being a huge project for you to undertake. If you need a reference, buy a manual at any parts store for $20, it is the best 20 I spent.

Hi td3201 and welcome to FTE

I dont know of any online manual that would tell you how to replace it. Like nb97f150 said, buying a manual would be a good investment
Your bumper is easy to replace. First off unplug the fog lights if it has them. Then under the middle of the bumper you'll find a rubber piece that attaches to the bumper and to the radiator support. Remove the pushpins that hold it on. After that there are 4 nuts (21mm I think) that hold the bumper to the frame. Have someone help you pull the bumper straight off. You might have to transfer the pad etc off your old bumper to the new one but it should be easy to see how thats done. Bolt the new one on and align it by keeping the 4 nuts somewhat loose and raise and lower the bumper til it lines up properly with the body.
I think that covers it but maybe someone else will have some more tips.
nb07f150 have you checked prices at your dealer? Sometimes "crash" parts like bumpers are pretty reasonable at the dealer.
