pressurizing fuel system

probably a pretty cockamamie idea, but if I have an air leak I can't find, can I hook the schrader valve up to my compressor and pressurize the whole system and then try to find the leak with the old soapy water trick?

WAY TO MUCH PRESSURE. now that we've got that out of the way, i would put no more than 5-15 psi though the system

it's more than likely in the fuel returns caps or the pick up tube

agreed. since the fuel pump pressure is only 7 lbs, i would not pressurize over 5 lbs.

told you it was a goofy idea, I don't have a leak...right now, but that just popped into one of the empty spaces between my ears

ain't that goofy of an idear.
i have often thought of pressurizing the tank to help the fuel pump when my trucks suffer from air infiltration.

but they never do it near an air source.

Exclamation

Some have installed electric fuel pumps and removed the mechanical fuel pumps to get around this issue. The electric pumps generally will prime (or come close to priming) the system rapidly, even without cranking the engine. Turning on the ignition key will start an electric pump.
