Prodigy Problems?

I am looking into buying a travel trailer, and have gotten to the point of talking final necessities with the dealer (counter-balancing hitch, brake controller, etc.). I already went through a post here on FTE about which controller to get - the overwhelming answer was Prodigy. When I questioned the dealer about which controller they put on, mentioning that I'd prefer a Prodigy, he told me they use the Voyager because almost every Prodigy they ever installed died within 6 months. He would give me a Prodigy for the same price, but recommended against it.

Anybody ever had a problem here? Could it have been a bad batch?

Thumbs up Prodigy Problems?

I've heard of the "open ground" (og) problem with them but I think they have that fixed. Not really a problem actually; you'd get an "og" reading on the display from time to time when not connected to a trailer but there was never a safety issue, just a nuisance. I've not heard of any dying after 6 months, plus there's a limited lifetime warranty on the Prodigy. I've had mine for about a year and a half and would never go back to another controller. I'd say "Get the Prodigy!!"
