All these talk about V,B,X Codes Springs

Are we talking about the F250 front (pre 04) and rear springs? The reason I ask is when I find a junk yard that has the F250, can I just ask them to sell me the front and rear leaf Springs for the 2004 or earlier F250?

Which spring code would that be? V front and B rear?

Thanks,

Yup, V's are the fronts, B's are the backs. I did the V/Modded B and I'm loving it.

Not to highjack this thread but I have been trying to follow all of this spring swap stuff shortly after buying my Ex. I have a lead on a 99 f350 that a friend is buying to scrap out the diesel engine. Should I offer to take the springs off his hands? Since it is a diesel are these the V codes everyone is talking about? I also asked him if the truck had a rear sway bar. Could I install this on my 2000 Ex? Thanks for any input.

Not sure about the front springs, but if I remember right, the rear sway bar should fit on an Ex.

Can someone confirm?

Can't confirm since I don't know anything and ask a lot of questions.

VQT I feel the same way! I am just asking because most of what I see referenced to for the springs are the 250's and I am new to Fords and I guess I would think the 350 springs would be the same if not stronger! When I went to Sunline Fan to pick up parts from his rolled Ex, he commented on my Ex not having much room between the spring and the bumper stop. While I am too new to Ex's to know better, I would like to be prepared in case mine starts to bottom out or is uncontrollable when I start to tow in the spring. Plus I am hoping that I may be in the right place at the right time with my buddy scrapping out the 99 350. Am I also correct that 99 and newer should be good for compatibility with the Ex's?

I know lots of questions!!

You'll have to check the door tag to see what springs are listed, to determine what springs are on his truck.

Yes, it should bolt right in.

Are the spring codes on the door tags the same for all Ford trucks? I guess what I am asking are V springs on an Ex the same as a v code on a 250 or 350?

I am trying to read all the threads for the spring swaps, Robert Ross, Excursion 03, and this one from VQT. Hope to pick up these used springs (depending on what they are) off of this 350 for cheap so I will have them if need be. I will find out more after the first camper trip this spring.

Excursions never came from the factory with V codes, but I understand your question, and the answer is yes.

An X code on a F250 truck is the same as an X code on a F350 truck.

V codes, W codes, X codes, B codes, ANY code spring will be the same at the Ford factory. They aren't any different from vehicle to vehicle, as long as you're referring to factory springs, not aftermarket springs.

Here's some reading for you.
