CEL come on tonight Stopped at Auto Zone shows p60bf But their computer doesn't know what it is???? I googled it no help. Anyone know? Everything is ok truck runs & drives fine
Look a few pages further and theres a thread with the codes. I didn't see that code, but saw PO6BF referring to cylinder 7 glow plug performance I believe.
That must be right p06bf is the only thing it could be. Is a bad glow plug the same as a bad spark plug? It doesn't feel like its running on 7 cylinders. (1st diesel overlook me)
Glow plug just for heating up cylinder to get er fired up, it would likely still run fine unless it's really cold and she will be rough after starting.....

It is nothing like a spark plug. A diesel uses compression ignition. The fuel/air mixture is literally squeezed until it explodes.
A gas engine uses the spark from the spark plug to cause the fuel air mixture to explode.
In a gas engine if the spark plug is not working that cylinder will not fire.
In a diesel engine the glow plugs are just devices that are used to pre-heat the fuel-air mixture to make the mixture 'explode' with less compression. They are used only to start the engine, and on modern diesel engines, often continue to glow and warm the mixture for a period of time after the engine is started to aide the combustion process for a cold engine. I believe on the 6.7L that is 20 minutes.
The above poster was 100% correct. With one bum glow plug your engine should run fine and you may not even notice it aside from the CEL.
There are a lot of people on here more knowledgeable about diesel engines than myself that can provide more detail and info but this is my nickel summary.

I also believe I read that the glow plugs come back on after extended idling to bring the temperature back up.
Code was for the #7 glow plug
Ford tech said all the tests say the plug is ok. They reset the light, & told me to drive it for a few days. We will have 2 wait & see if it comes back on.
