how would i go about finding an either an original radio for my 64 f100 or even a classic looking one that would have like an aux input or something i could put cds in? and maybe how much they would cost?
Look on Ebay! I have seen a few on there, just type in 61/66 ford pickups and it will show everything from whole trucks to part's..or if you live around some old wrecking yards you might get lucky? but you may not know if they work?..good luck!
Do a few searches from about 5 months ago for a tutorial on FTE...once you get an original radio, try Ebay, you can
quite simply do a few things following the tutorial I'm talking about which allows you to plug in an MP3 player into your
FOMOCO radio. CD's are ancient history.
There are 4-5 on ebay, run an ebay search under Ford pickup radios and they should service. If considering purchasing or bidding, suggest email seller and inquire if the dials work, particularly the channel sellecter.
The same AM radio was also used in: 1961/67 Econolines / 1961/66 F100/1100's / 1961/77 C Series Tilt Cabs / 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1000's / 1966/77 Bronco's / 1967/69 F800/1000's.
Note: 1961/63's have tubes, 1964 and later have transistors. The speaker, mounting brackets are different in C Series, Econolines and Bronco's.
N/NT/T500/1000's and F800/1000's use the same cab style as 1961/66 F100/1100's.
The antenna (C3AZ-18813-C) is the same as the following and has been reproduced by Dennis Carpenter:
HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS~SERVICES OFFERED: Have listings for peeps that take the original radios, add a cassette player, CD player and etc features.
The problem is, the AM radio's face plate has a very limited amount of space to add much of anything. IMO, buy and install the aftermarket radio of your choice, install it inside the glove box.
Get one with the remote control feature, cuz the glovebox is a loooong reach from the drivers seat, even if you have "ape arms."
makes me want to go get an old radio and try this !! It would suprise the heck out of my oldest daughter when she got in her 66 and I had her Iopod playing thru her AM radio !!
