Ok here goes the long story. 67 ford f100 with 79 f150 302 package, brand new holley 600 4 barrel, rebuilt engine from a reputable place. She idles perfect barely hit key and she fires up. You go to hit the gas and she starts stumbling and coughing up, but you can nail into it and it once you get it going it runs flawless I have a voltmeter in my truck and when it is runnin right it sits still and when she starts acting up it starts jumping all around the place so first thing I think of is firing should I look into a new distributor or get module tested first. Any of you guys have experience with a problem like this. Thanks in advance because I really miss my truck.
Where do you have the voltmeter hooked? When it's jumping around, it's an indication the 12 volt supply is breaking down somewhere, which could certainly starve the ignition of voltage required to fire the plugs. Depending on where you have it hooked up, might lead to a clue as to where the loose/bad connection or problem is. You also may be able to move the connection of the voltmeter around, to troubleshoot where the problem is.
Well everybody I feel good best $60 dollars I have ever spent in my life went and bought a new distributor and that done the trick. I think the vacuum advance went out on it but who cares what it was it is behind me now so far. Thank you to everyone who tried to help me out.
Glad you repaired it. First thing i would have checked for was a cheby that might have been sucked in the intake and stuck in the exhoust system. I would then keep an eye on the braker plate that moves when the vacum advance pulls to advance.
