hey guys, i am sure SOMEONE out there knows exactly what is going on here. the power rear window on my '93 Bronco went out. i replaced the motor, it worked for about 2 months, then went out again. replaced the motor 3 times, nothing. wired the last motor directly to the battery to test it, and it works fine. bought a brand new switch from FoMoCo, still nothing doing...short of tracing the daggum red and yellow wires all the way through the truck (i am an electrical dum-dum), is there anything else it could quite possibly be? Could the exterior switch (the one on the tailgate that operates with a key) being shot actually prevent the dash-mounted switch from sending its signal? i did not receive a key to the back when i bought the truck, i don't know if it works or not. am i going to have to replace that mechanism before this daggum window will go up and down??? HELP PLEASE!!!

I had some similar problems with my 89 Bronco. The tailgate/key switch didn't work but the dash switch worked just fine.
Finally traced it to the bundle of wires that comes out of the left side of the tailgate and goes into the body by the taillight.
I pulled the insulating tape off and found three of the wires broken or corroded and nearly ready to break. Made the repairs - tailgate key works just fine (which is a good thing 'cuz Ford won't sell you just the key switch. You have to buy the door locks and tailgate lock as a set!)
Strip the insulation off there and take a look - might be an easy fix
The tailgate key is the same as the door keys. At least it was on my 89. What ever you do do not let the botom of the get get extremly rusty. Mine rusted away and the toursion bar that helps lift the gate broke loose and shatered the window.$$$$$$$$$$$. dump a quart of oil in that gate know.. let her leak. it will stop any rust from doing more damage
Broncohound,
Yes, the t'gate mounted switch could be bad. I forget, does it work from the dash switch?
And Yes, both switches must be in working order for either to operate the motor. See my Gallery here for Chris's wiring diagram (some colors are prob. slightly diff in your year Bronco (pink/lt blue may be purple/lt blue, etc.).
Gallery also has other t gate info.
Try pushing on driver's side of t'gate; there is an electrical "limit switch" on that side's latch (on t'gate's side) that may need adjustment/repair; this latch may need cleaning and shot of silicone/white grease.
