Regular or mid grade

Regular or mid grade
Just a simple question. First I'll say I've had older 4, 6, and 8
cylinder engines I've switched up to the mid grade gas from reg.
with no problem but those didn't have a computer brain. A man doesn"t know what will effect these computer jobs.
I have a 96 F150. 5.0. auto., 4x4. Would there be any problem
switching to mid grade gas from reg. The manual says to only use reg.
The valves jabber sometimes when pulling the camper up a
grade. Thanks.
Come on back

Regular or mid grade
Has your "pinging" problem developed over time?? If it has, then
you might want to see what might have changed. Things like a
dirty MAF sensor, carbon build up in the combustion chambers,
or the wrong heat range plugs can cause a "pinging" problem.
If your truck has always done this, then I don't see why it would
hurt to use the midgrade (89 octane) when you going to be doing
some heavy pulling with it.......I have read that using premium
gasoline (93 octane) when it is not needed, can result in excessive deposits in the combustion chambers....
