can the dealer flash the PCM in-truck...or does it need pulled???
dealer is 40 miles away...wife's car is down and she is using the spare set of wheels...so if it needs pulled I'll need help gettin' to and from the dealer.....thanks in advance for all/any help...
Most dealerships SHOULD have the off board programming adapter. However, most will not take the time to find the parts and pieces necessary. They'd rather do it in-vehicle.
well...the reason I am flashing the truck is thru searches here ans elsewhere the common thoughts on a '95 is they aren't OBII compliant...and the newer flash is said to make a smoother running truck....oh...and when its time to chip it, the PCM will need at least '96 for the chip/tuner communicates...they also quoted me 1.5 hrs for an AIC install...but I'm torn on buying that or waiting and have a high idle burned on the chip/tuner...thanks for the help guys...)
The new flash WILL allow OBD2 devices to work. Don't expect a smoother running truck though. Everything will be the same otherwise for a manual but an automatic will shift quite a bit different.
The way I look at it is that if you can't say something in public, you probably shouldn't say it in private.
That's not the purpose of PMs. They're for people to contact one another individually, without everyone else having to filter out a conversation that is only relevant to the two people involved. Imagine every time you wanted to Email someone, instead Emailing everybody on your contact list, and saying "Okay, everyone but Fred, ignore this message.". Not too useful. There are plenty of reasons, not related to "secrecy", for members to communicate on a one-on-one basis, and such communications would clutter up open forums.
Also, most forums have rules about some communications that should ONLY be by PM. I don't remember if it applies here on FTE, but on many forums, when a member is looking to buy or sell something, it's okay to mention it in open forum, but when it comes to prices and money matters, they require you to communicate by PM.
