The wife and I went cross country a few years back and stayed at Baker's Hole. It is very basic and outside the park in West Yellowstone, MT but got the job done.
We were there last August and stayed at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park and Cabins
It is a little pricey. Being in my declining years I look for places that have full hook ups.
Bakers Hole has a few elect and water sites. Another NFS campground that is great if you are boon docking is; Cabin Creek. It's about 20 miles from West Yellowstone.
What time of the year were you staying at Bakers Hole? Did you have any trouble getting a site being they are first come first serve?
I was there week after July 4th, 2009, my wife and I went out totally blind (real smart I know), there were a few hook up (power only) spots when we got there, if you are planning a trip then a place that reservations might be a better idea. But it is a descent backup plan.
calf roper, good luck and have fun, Yellowstone is awesome.
Not sure about your size, check the Ystone site and there are links to all thier campgrounds. Part of your decision is what you want to be close to.
I like Mammoth CG, plenty of room in May, but gets very busy after Mem wknd. No hook ups, but water close, you can run a gen 8-8, nice restrooms. No reservations. Be carefull at Madison, had problems with our 30' and CC F250, not a lot of space to move trailer around, although they advertise room for 30'+.
What time of year? Their season is mostly June-Aug. Mammoth is open all year.
It can, and usually does, snow somewhere in Ystone any day of the year.
Let me know if you have more questions. We spent about 5 weeks there last year.

Wow 5 weeks I would never come home.We would be there in late June or early July.Trying to decide on Yellowstone or maybe Colorado area. Our time is limited as we both work.Colorado would be 500 miles closer. We went to South Dakota Black Hills last summer without 5th wheel but I can't hardly stay in Motels anymore. Thanks for your reply.Carl
I would say look at Colorado. It was a solid day from Laramie, Wy into Yellowstone, towing a trailer. Tough country to be driving too fast. There is a lot to do around northern area, Rocky Mt NP, other places. Like was mentioned, check out the RV.net forum, lots of help there for places to go, travel tips, etc.
Yeah, it was tough to come home to Houston, but going back this year. One day we will stay.(hope)
