Definetly a machined lip. I've never cared much at all for the "blacked" out treatments. You need some chrome in there for contrast, makes it "pop" that much more
for me it was an easy answer.. the machined lip makes it look like a muscle car, the blacked out rims makes it look like your trying to hide something. The tires are already black, so it just seems like way too much black. Perhaps if you painted the wheels all black and chromed the tires. LOL!!
The all black is a little more sinister looking, but my personal preference would be the machined lip. I think the all black is more fad appearing while the machined look is more classic.
all black does look kinda cheap, plus the tires are black so the line helps break up the look
and after looking at again the second car had way too much blacked out
Thanks for the replies everybody. I was leaning more towards all black as I'm not a huge fan of the big fat lip they put on the 10" rear wheels. The black helps hide that. I prefer less lip on the wheels, but want some meats on the back. I may have a different opinion once I get them in front of me. They come from the manufacturer with the machined lip.
Although its the same car, with different wheels, the one without the machined wheels lacks definition. its like it blurs all the other style lines that car has and gives it the look like I dropped a ball of clay on the ground and put black wheels on it.
Just my 2 cents..
No wheels yet. Should be on the way though. When they get here and I can see them I'll decide. I've found these center caps that will really set them off. My calipers are red, so that does break up all the black.
Tires ordered. I decided to go with your opinions. Machined lip it is. Going to drop off the wheels at the tire place tomorrow and have them back by the weekend. I'll get some pics up hopefully soon.
