Man this is frustrating...doe anyone one knwo of maybe some other names that the blower motor resistor would go by..I check with my autoparts stores and one..they look at me funny..two they don't have it..should I be looking for it under a different name.
I know it's the resistor because I only get high speed and looked at teh wiring diagram for it..I did replace the motor because that's probably what caused the resistor failure.
The resistors usually fail from leaves building up and burning on them, causing the stainless coils to corrode or the thermal fuse to burn. If they can't understand "blower motor resistor", try "fan speed resistor". Take yours with you so they can maybe figure it out - if you get sick of the minimum-wage morons, check this site's store or just get one from a junkyard. I keep a couple of spares, since my whole truck is built from junk parts.
well from an old post about the blower resistors I managed to find a thermal fuse at radioshack rated close to the thermal rating of the existing one..I replaced it an my blower motor now has Variable speeds...I knew the old thermal fuse had gone..I also replaced the blower motor anyway because I figured that may have caused it to build up heat in the first place..thanks all
Well the resistor was fine...the thermal fuse blew...so I jsut replaced that..I wouldn't want to bypass that part because it's there for a reason..thanks again all it's working :-)
Plus Looks like the blower motor was going because my full speed is a lot faster..
