Paid $1 for an alternator pulley nut today, very difficult to find anywhere else. $1 was actually the price for admission to a Pullapart, when I showed them what I got, they let me out for no extra charge.

If not a junkyard, look at 4x4 places for drivetrain things(driveshafts, shifters for those of us that break them...myself included, and axles) I know of one here in MT bout 30 miles south of me and they have SCREAMING deals on almost anything i can think of, I was offered a Sterling LSD 4.10 axle of a 1991 F-350 for 255 bucks!!

RockAuto! Large amount of parts, and some good to great deals as well. They frequently have 5% discounts if you search for them (they're only good for a few months, but someone is always posting a new one either here, or elsewhere online).
The link should bring you right to the '88 F350 Diesel listings if it works right (the page I have bookmarked). But you can get damn near anypart for damn near any vehicle if they testimonies are correct.
