Bruno,

I found once the headliner in my '87 started coming loose that the foam backing had deteriorated to the point that even the commercial 3M spray glue wouldn't hold it.
I felt like I was riding around in a Bedouin tent!
A putty knife will get it all off the pressboard.

My experience anyway...

So it may need to be scraped down before trying to re glue it? I suppose the better job of cleaning it off I do the better the headliner will look when I am done.

Thanks Jim for the pointer! I may try to do this soon. The weather is getting cold for a few days and I dont want to do something that requires being out in the elements. This sounds like a good inside garage project.

I know I have nothing to complain about especially since the truck came with Dad when he moved in and seeing as he can no longer drive, that essentially makes it mine. It has been sitting since June 2009, so I know it could be much worse off. I will keep the hinges in mind when we get around to doing more work, thanks.

I would like to do a Saginaw swap in my truck.
The pump has always been noisy but lately it has been really loud when first starting on colder mornings.

Since the Cardone/NAPA horseshoe pump is NLA I suppose I'll need to find an older E350 that had the 460 with V-belts.
That isn't going to be easy around here.

Quite a few junk yards have closed and those still around sold most of their scrap to China before the tariff a few years back.
Cash 4 Clunkers created a glut and storage problem with the solution being to process everything.
Land is too valuable. Liability and environmental concerns are other pressures.
The one yard close to me has been using a shredder for almost a decade now.

Anyone have a good idea where to locate an inexpensive bracket and pump for my truck?

Well, where do I start lol, Prolly should break it down in to sections

84 F250 sc 6.9
Drivetrain:
Glowplugs(1 or 2 are bad)
Performance Injectors and Perf. Rebuild on pump(unsure of age on current setup, and might as well upgrade)
Get it Timed
Valve cover and possible intake gaskets
Custom CAI/Ram-air
Dual 3in exhaust with Flowmaster Outlaw race mufflers
Flush Trans and Diff, complete with new diff cover
Would like a posi/locker
Working A/C would be great, Need a comp and the brackets
7.3 Fuel Filter head swap
Eventually a ZF5 or GearVendors would be great(T19, dont push her past 65, The Bronco with a C6 and 4.10s...yea..lol)
Vbelts for the vac pump and alt.

Suspension&Brakes:
Could Use shocks all around
Needs an alignment
Has pretty nasty wheel hop, so im thinking a set of traction bars lol
Parking brake doesnt work, plus i think I need to check the rears out anyway I get the feeling they arent doing to much to help out the fronts
Bleed the system and replace the front rubber hoses

Interior:
Needs new carpet
Replace door panels...thinking also a conv. to power locks/windows
Have windshield resealed
Replace the not safely installed conversion van seats with factory front buckets 80-91
Have the non working factory oil, temp, and volt gauges work in lieu of the aft. ones.
Pyro and tach install
Custom Steering Wheel
Fix Clutch safety switch, unhooked from pedal, use hand to operate lol

Exterior:
New Front brightwork(bezels,billet grille,Push-bar)
Clear turn signal lense swap
cab clearance lights
Cowl hood??maybe down the road
Have new pass door painted and install
find, paint and install yr correct bed and tailgate(has 87-97 style) Was sideswiped at some point, pass door trashed, and right bedside and cab corner have More bondo than a Maaco uses in a year
Needs a core support

And this an 88, but Id thought include it as well.
88 FS Bronco XLT 55k original miles from Tenn.
I already have alot of money into it. Ive had the engine rebuilt, the trans. etc.

Drivetrain: 351w bored to 358 cu.in(410 hp, 450ft. lbs), It is carbed, PO mad a horrible attempt to convert it to carb. So I tore into it and just finshed the job the right way.
C6, Case and gears are the only stock/factory parts..evrything else has been upgraded. built to handle 700+ hp. E4OD 1st gear swap
The only thing the PO did right was have some shop swap the factory 3.55s to the 4.10s that are in it now.
Ill be ugrading to a built 9in with a selectable locker
Warn hubs for the front, and maybe a trac-lok for the d44
Eventually Id like to stroke the 351w to 408 or 427 and go back to F.I abeit an aftermarket setup. Id like to be deep in the 500 hp&tq range

Suspension&Brakes:
Needs all 6 shocks(quad front)
Leveling coils
possible add-a-leafs for the rear(depends on how much room I have to play with so it can still fit under the garage door lol)
replace the left brake hose...right side collapsed, was under a time/emergency crunch. has new calipers and brakes up front. rears were good. with it being a low milage southern truck. underneath is solid...fuel and brakes line have no rust anywhere. but considering ugrading the rubber flex hoses to stainless braided flex hoses.
Needs an alignment, from replacing the whole steering system sans the pump.

Interior:
Door panels
carpet and insulation
headliner
seats need re-upholstered/replaced
Working A/C a must with a black truck...Need compressor
Have all the factory gauges work in leiu of the aft ones.
figure out the issue with my fuel gauge....works backwards lol

Exterior: Ive already undercoated the frame, painted the firewall and front inner fenders
needs a new cowl
The hood is about as flat as the Rockie mtns
Needs a new tail gate(what bronco doesnt)
replace the whole left rear quarter...wheel arch rusted through and a hole in lower rocker by back bumper. right side still looks salvagable...no holes small bubble on arch
New doors
roof has (how did those dents get there) dents from PO(i think alcohol induced lol)
Will have custom front and rear bumpers powdercoated black to match truck. front prerunner style with light bar and winch, rear with integrated hitch and swing out tire carrier.
The Cap needs to be painted
Get the 3pc soft top for the warmer months
Custom 69 GT500 Styled fiberglass hood eventually(pricey)

Wheels & Tires:
15X8 4slot Steel wheels(the kind that every single american vehicle had from the 40s-90s lol)powdercoated black, beauty rings, chome capped lugnuts wrapped in 32x11.50 Mudtires(not sure on brand yet)

Im basically going for the no show, all go look. Like early 60s muscle cars. sleeper. I do have a build thread on it...I need to update it lol in the 78-96 Bronco. "Boss Bronco" build.

Yea, These trucks keep me busy lol. But I love em both,

Pull the wire off the sending unit and ground/unground it to the frame with the key in RUN or ACCY, the dash gauge should swing fully back and forth as you do that.

If that test passes, the gauge & wiring are fine and the problem is in the sending unit (shocking!).

Give me the specifics - year, make, model, engine, transmission, single or dual tanks, I'll see what I can find.

My week/weekend projects for the '82 explorer

Start assembling the 347
Pull 9" back off, pull brakes off and send it to powdercoating
finish installing lift, then pull it and send that to powdercoating
dismantle the hubs off the D44 and send both sides of the ttb to powdercoating
Install suspension, 9", brakes if I get them back by friday
set up Fuel tank, run frame rail fuel and brake lines
If I get my D44 third member back from the shop by then, I'll assemble and bolt on the front axle and steering (once I drill the knucles for the TRE flip)

Tearing stuff up is my favorite part... I just suck at the putting it back together part. It's too bad you're not closer, I'm always down for some extra help. Heck, I don't even know where to start! I want to finish the '81 project so I can tow out to an event with it... but then again, I have to work on the vehicle that is being towed out to the event... ugh.

It occurs to me... 1987 model, you probably have in-tank pumps, which will mean multiple wires to the sending unit.

In earlier years, the wires to the sending units were blue & yellow - dark blue/yellow stripe on the front tank, yellow/light-blue-hash on the rear tank. Probably be one ground wire, too.

Other wires will be supplying power to the pump, don't ground those.

Chris was asking about:Give me the specifics - year, make, model, engine, transmission, single or dual tanks, I'll see what I can find.
1987 Ford Bronco(full size). 351 W(last yr for the carb) and it has a mechanical pump. Bronco has one big tank and the C6 tranny.

Jim , I just did a factory PS pump on the Bronco. I learned about the saginaw swap after that. I wish I would have known about it first so I could have went right into that. I bought the factory 2G alt, but , before putting it in I got wise to the 3G swap . I took the alt back then went straight to the JY and got my $30 3G. It's in and working like a champ according to the voltmeter.

Boss 351, is that all for the 84? If so that will be one sweet truck. I have to ask about the 7.3 filter head. I assume thats off of a 7.3 IDI right and not the 7.3 DI? I have a couple of filter housings for the 7.3DI/444E. You do have your work cut out for you. Again though it will be sweet once its done.

Oyyy..........

Looks like 1987 Broncos with the 351W were a one-year-wonder in regard to this item....

E7TZ-9275-K GAUGE ASSY. (FUEL TANK UNIT)
Fits 1987 Bronco with 5.8L engine w/32-gal steel tank; Includes one C0AF-9276-A gasket

PartsVoice is showing none (-0-) available anywhere.

BUT....

FTE Sponsor Horizon Ford's web site (partsguyed.com) says they can get it for you.... MSRP $119.58 Your cost: $86.10

I would purchase it over their Web site, see if they send you an e-mail saying the site is erroneous and they can't get it.

Bill can maybe check the Parts Locator to see if he can find it anyplace else, I sent him a PM asking.

Cool, I am interested to see what they say Chris. Thanks a bunch for doing that for me. I have looked a little , but , gave up quickly. The 1987 bronco had quite a few 87 specific parts. So after getting the cold shoulder while looking for a few different parts I was giving up easy and looking for a different way. I could probably swap the tank and get sonething with the 4" sending unit instead of the 2-1/2" like in it now. However, I just re lined the tank and spent a lot of man hours getting it back to normal. So I would like to fix the one I have. Full Size Bronco has a tech write up about taking the sending unit apart to clean up the electronics inside. Then again they said if its corroded forget about it. There is no fix for that.
