Opening the hood

When I open the hood on any of my beloved trucks, I have to give the hood a gentle smack in front center while pulling the handle to get the hood to pop. It may seem strange but I find that kinda cool.

Is that how eveyone elses works too? I remember my dad having to open his hood like that on his 79 when it was brand new.

Opening the hood

Listen up Fonzie,

I do have to slightly push down on my hood to release the tension between it and the hood latch before I can pop my hood.
I don't hit my womenz...

hmm... That little "tap" on the hood is kinda appreciated by my old '73, but my '81 prefers if I give the hood a little push down, so hey different strokes for different folks? but whatever it takes to keep your truck inline...

My '73 is the same - I have to lean on it a little to get the latch to release. I don't mind it, no one else can get the hood open with out me sharing the secret.

The old gal still gets a little naughty every now and again and needs a little spank to open it up. But not to much don't want to bruise my baby!

on my 78 custom all i have to do is pull the latch and the hood is open. i guess it has to do with the adjustment on the hood. but i dont know they all get a little on the touchy side evry now and then.

My 76 F250 Highboy needs a gentle smack to open the hood.. The damned thing is so tall I could give it a head butt for the same effect if I wished..

Opening the hood

tellico,

I had to perform the same handle pull-hood slap before I converted to a locking hood. Now all I have to do is pull the latch from the cab and the hood pops up about 3 inches.

The hood not releasing when the latch is pulled is due to the hood being misaligned (may be very minor). Also, check the hood springs (they do get old).

My hood is missing the assist spring. I have to pull up on one side of the hood while pulling the latch. At least I did before I took the hood off yesterday and yanked the crappy ol' 400M.

My 78 used to do that too. Now, i just pull the homemade hood release in the cab and tilt the whole front clip forward.

The 79 needs a push down to open, and the cheesy bug shield that the PO installed doesn't make that easy.
