Hello folks, I'm new to the forum. I figured my first post would be a question in a new thread. Please excuse me it this topic was discussed, forum search engines stink.
I just got a new to me 2004 f-250 super dude, did some plowing today and i realized i would like some additional light. What is the best way to add lighting?? I was thinking some type of spot lights for the front and back. Let me know what you think!! Thanks Dan
I know your looking for what has been done here, and direct user experiences, but since the penut gallery is quiet i will chime in
The last light bar i had experience with was in the MIL... A company named Ibistek made it, and it turned Nite into DAY!!! im not sure if they have an application for civ vechicles but hell its worth a search, good luck
I plow in Mass. (not much this year yet) I have a Double halogen rotating beacon on the roof and 8 flashing LEDs (2 1/2" X 5 1/2") on the rear of the truck at diffrent areas and 2 white flashing LEDs in my front grill and I am putting a few more others around the truck, I'll take some pictures and post. also I work for the DOT of Massachusetts and the State police I work with tell me I have more lights than they do, HA,HA, remember we can only use amber and white unless you are a firefighter (red), or undercover cop (Blue), also there are numerous sites for lighting let me know if you need any.
Depends a bit on what you plow, where you plow, and your budget.
We favor LED lighting for most purposes, although HID and halogen are also in our fleet. Trucklight makes a pretty good LED work light for reasonable money. See AWDirect.com. Rigid makes a number of interesting lights, but they are pricey.
For plow lights, we are very happy with the JW Speaker LED headlights, Sylvania Zenarc HID headlights, and my guys like the Meyer Night Saber halogen lights.
Beware of draw! Plows, heater blower motors, and some types of lights, suck electricity and can cause trouble.
