My EX has 189k on it and runs like a top and doesn't leak a drop. Tranny has been rebuilt and beefed up and have done some other upgrades but am running original injectors and turbo. I haul my family around the West pretty regularly in it and am concerned about maintanance. I really don't want to have the family stranded on the side of the road. Is there anything I need to do and if so when? I check the hoses and change my fuel filter on schedule but is there more I should be doing? Do you do the injectors just "to do them" or do I just wait for a failure?
You probably wont have all 8 injectors go out at once. And you can limp on 7, or 6. Probably even 5. So on the off chance you blow 3 injectors, just move to the slow lane and go home. Its a 7.3, it will make it.
You're probably doing all of the maintenance you need to. Check on your sensors. CPS is a good one to have a spare of. I have heard of the EOT sensor leaking, but not crippling right away.
Here is some good reading on common failures. I have this as a favorite and been trying to get every item listed complete. Hoping my X lasts as long as possible.
