Help with hood release spring

Got the hood for my 49 F2 back from the paint shop today . Started putting the chrome back on and ran into a brick wall trying to figure out how the spring goes back on the release lever . Wish I could say I wasn't the one who took it apart but I was . Remember thiking how easy it came apart ! Any help would be appreciated , especially a picture of one assembled .

Tight fit for my camera, in there. hope this helps! the black thing is a hook for a nylon strap, not part of the hood.

help with hood release spring

I'm not seeing the spring in the picture . I'm pretty sure the pin holding the realease lever should go through the coil in the spring .

Yeah I couldn't get the camera low enough. You can see, in each picture, the ends of the spring. I can try to use a mirror an camera give me a little bit here 15-30 minutes total.

I could email these to you so you could zoom in on them, but I don't have your email address. PM it to me if you want them emailed. I have taken several but only posting what I think is the best. It is a tight spot and my hood is hanging in the rafters! LOL

Bobby's "parts view" makes it look like it's on top to me.
Mine is at the bottom. I don't think mine has ever been apart.
So I don't know what's up with that? Anybody?

Jeff,
I can't remember, its been so long since I've had mine apart. If there wasn't soo much stuff stacked on the hood of my truck right now I'd go take a look.

No problem Bobby, as I said before, I don't think mine has ever been apart, but it's tough to get at the spring with the camera, standing on a ladder, dark under the hood, holding the camera with my left hand when the button is on the right and a mirror in my right hand! It's not just a job, it's an adventure! LOL

The pin does go through the spring coil, the shorter arm points to the back of the hood and the long arm points to the passenger side of the hood. under the spring is a washer and under the washer is the clip.

Jeff,
Nice job on trying to get a clear pic of it!

I wonder if the spring could go on either the top or bottom?

Bobby

Yeah I wonder that myself. I am gonna look at that, but tomorrow night, curious now!

those turned out better than i figured they would, heck I was only 3-4" away with the lense!
Now I realize I got some rust and dirt in there to clean out.
