Fed. Regs suck
I have just been watching gold rush Alaska & federal inspectors show up & shut down two mining operations due to lack of training for people that have been doing their job's for 20 years accident free. Really , they need to be trained by some bureaucratic system!
Is anyone else fed up with the BS the working man has to go thru?
I deal with this crap everyday being in the construction trade & I can barely stomach it any more.........
I' done... Not that I feel any better about it!

Agreed. But much of the problem resides with us. We seem to be okay with regulations that impact other people and control their behavior. But only complain when the regulation directly targets us personally. We need to recognize that most regulations are detrimental because of the unintended consequences that ripple thru the rest of society.

I've been a gold miner for the last 40 years, so have a different perspective. The reason they were shut down was because of safety violations for the HIRED workers. I've watched these clowns since the first show last year. I've seen nothing but safety problems! I would NOT work for these people! Last night they were losing most of their gold because of "muddy" water plugging up the sluice boxes, and are to stupid to use a rotary screen to keep the crap out!
I'm amazed nobodys been hurt yet..........

I wonder how much of those shows is even real. I used to watch Ax Men because I grew up in logging country. I can tell you with all honesty, no logging company I've ever heard of acts like that at ANY level. It's like their made-up "load count" of log loads. Do they really expect the viewer to think that all logging contractors are in competition based on the number of loads they get out per season? What's the prize? It's just made for TV drama, and I for one quit watching a long time ago.

It's kind of like watching a car crash. You know you shouldn't watch, but just can't help yourself.....My wife get's a kick out of me yelling at the TV. These guys are from Oregon, but travel all the way to Alaska to mine gold for a couple of months a year? WTF? They could mine for gold right here in Oregon with out spending 100's of thousands of $$$$!
All I've seen is "flour gold" coming out of their operation, but right here I've found nuggets up to 2.5 ounces! Dumb a$$'s..........

kinda like "professional wrestling" it is 100% pure bullscrap, but people swear it is real.

I agree! ALL THOSE SHOWS ARE MADE UP! I hate all those shows! They teach our kids that that is the way to behave, treat people and act at a job and around other people. From Ice Road Truckers to that Junior vs Senior chit. They are ALL CRAP like "Pregnant at 16", they are polluting our youths minds by portraying that stuff as acceptable and it is NOT! I do watch American Restoration from time to time b/c there is little drama and the stuff they save is cool. You want a "reality show"? Watch The First 48 or something like that.

chit, I dont watch TV much so I didn't realize the OP was talking about a TV show. Thought he was actually a miner.
Reality TV sucks, that's why I don't watch it. If I want reality, why would I be watching TV? I want to see something humorous or entertaining so I can relax.
Have to be honest though, from what I've heard about "Jersey Shore" it's a fairly accurate depiction of the towns around where I live. I don't watch that show cuz I can just look outside If I wanna see a bunch of guidos doing stupid stuff.

The original reality tv ie Survivor, is a game show. That, I have no problem with.
It's the housewives, Kardashians, preggo 16 year olds etc. that, in my opinion, is crap.
Reality tv, should be sports. There's no way to script a season. How is it that a soccer goalie can kick the ball clear down the field and beat the other goalie? Sports are played in the heat of the moment, swearing is barely censored, if just in time.
As for Gold Rush, I find it laughable, but I still watch it. Because the alternative is the Kardashians.

This was brought up somewhere recently too, not sure if it was here or not, but the show about the moonshiners. How is it that Tim and Tickle can make their 'shine on a TV show all the while not "legit", as they say, and have the "feds" "hot on their trail" (and even part of the show)? Then they go to visit a "legit" moonshine operation to "see what its like to go legal"...

You're not kidding, man. The Feds don't mess around with moonshine, because so much tax money is at stake. Reality shows that are not even believable real are such garbage. And for that, "Beavis and Butthead" is at least funny.

Good points. I liken it to the dope growing culture here in NorCal. Lots of money to be made BECAUSE it's illegal, and lots of people do it. But I'd bet my bottom dollar no grower in his right mind would be taking part in a cable TV show showing his dumb *** breaking the law. Why not just turn yourself in and get it over with?
