I started to change the front gear fluid in my 98 Ford Explorer but found out the suction tube was too large to reach the bottom of the unit (I'll get a thinner one soon).
HOWEVER, about 2-3 ounces of fluid sort of "droowled" out when first removed the plug.
Is it safe to Drive for a little while after loosing a bit...or do those fill levels have very narrow tolerances.
It is supposed to be filled to 1/4 inch below the plug. Been in any high water lately? While it might have been the angle, did it look like there was water contamination that might have raised the level? Anyway a couple of ounces won't hurt. Think it is 1.7 quarts total in front.
