After trying to run a DA sander with my 26 gallon Home Depot special I have quickly found that I need to upgrade. I've looked at the $400-$500 60 gallon models that have between 10-13 cfm @90psi. From what I've read I think that I need at least 15cfm @ 90psi. I found a Ingersoll Rand at Tractor Supply that has 18cfm @ 90psi. It's a 60 gallon and is less than $900
It may be fine , but I would look into getting a 2 stage .
I started out with a single stage , & added extra storage to help it keep up ... (used an old 100 lb propane tank) , It worked fine till I used a sand blaster , an air file or an air grinder ..
I have limited experience in what works best ...I'm using a 5hp 80 g 2 stage now & have been for 30 years ,, sand blasting is my only issue . Other than that , it handles anything I want to do ...( of course its 30 years old)
It will do the job, but will still run almost constantly with a DA. I finally stepped up to a 7.5HP 80gal two stage. For the first time, it actually cuts off using my sanders and even my sandblaster.
