Hello everyone, I've been in the process of hooking up the EVAP on my 82 f150 302 with the motorcraft 2150 carburetor, and can't quit figure it out. Can I get and explaination of how it all hooks up. Thanks Joe
Everything is there. Well, see, what I can't figure is the purge valve, (small round green , three ports) I'm not sure which side goes to the pcv and the vacuum.
From studying the older diagrams on Autozone's site(seems the newer diagrams don't show the purge valve) the center port is the control port that comes from the carb. Looking at the top of the valve, the left port goes to the connection on the canister, and the right port goes to the suction of the engine(PCV valve in your case?).
What I would do is hook the center port to the carb, and hook the right port to the PCV. I would then warm the engine up and then stick your finger over the left port and see if you have vacuum on it when you rev the engine, no vacuum when idling. If so, I believe it's correct, and you can go ahead and hook the canister up to the left port.
Is there a specific port on the carb to connect to? I've noticed a port behind the carb under the breather plate, it points in the direction of the pcv.
