I was wondering what happened to my request since I hadn't heard anything back for a week or so. So I stopped into this thread to check out who these dag nabit 2 newbies were and why I wasn't one of them. Poof! One of those was me!
Well, About the screen name. The wife calls me a Sasquatch since I'm 6'2ish and about 300lbs, and kind of furry. Haha. And well Zilla? Anything real big has to have a "Zilla" attached to it. Haha.
My wife is from Oregon, near Brownsville and I'm a navy brat. We were out of state working when her father passed and we decided to move back. I work in the eugene/springfield area, but live between Shedd and Brownsville.
Look forward to sharing some stories and any tech stuff to share.
As far as the fords I currently have: I just bought a 01 F250 SD Crew cab 4x4 with a V10. Awesome truck. I'm in the process of upgrading and repairing some things with it (ie bad radio and some suspension issues. Also it has the "bullet" style mirrors, completely worthless on a big truck so I'm going to get the tow mirrors.
I also have a 67 Galaxy 4dr with a 390 and C6 TCI trans. It needs a complete overhaul now, but 6 yrs ago I refreshed all the mechanicals. It mainly needs some tlc on the body and interior. I plan on starting work on it next year when some projects die down on the property.
Past fords include a few early 80's Rangers. One was 4wd and had lots of issues and the last was a 2wd with a built up (by me) V6 and 4spd. Super nice truck. Had to sell it when I lived in Cali, because all the smog stuff had been taken off when I was living in another state.
You are in good company here! Welcome to the Chapter, zilla!
Yes, I am temporarily incarcerated.......ahem, living in eugene taking care of family, but have a place in Cedar Flats, east of Springfield. I work in eugene too, so we may be able to meet up!
Welcome! I'm in Corvallis, so not too far from you. Looks like a nice truck, bet it sucks down the gas though...
Lots of good people in this forum. I see you already made it into the BS thread...
I love Corvallis! It's kind of like Eugene, but with a lot less bums! The wife and me stopped there this past weekend on the way to Alsea falls. Got some food near the river from the Flat Tail Brewery. Good place. Sometimes I go to Corvallis for work if the guy that has that territory is busy or out sick.
Yeah, it's not exactly easy on the gas. Thankfully we have a beater car that gets 40mpg. I don't drive it much, it's more of a utility truck for the property and maybe a bit of a toy too! I've been driving it far more now since it's new, but soon it'll simmer back down and into it's regular role. Haha!
I love the early 60's GALs. I ran across mine by chance and was flat broke at the time. I joked with the guy if he'd take payments and nearly passed out when he said yes! It was pretty sharp when I bought it and all original. I've put lots of miles on it. I've owned it from 2001. Unfortunately it's seen better days and in need of some TLC. I love the car, it's been through a lot of things in my life. Really look forward to being able to work on it and do long term projects with it and have it be down for more than a weekend. For a long time it was my daily driver, or at least my winter/bad weather driver when I was to wimpy to jump on the bike.
