Wiring info?

Hey all, just wondering if anyone had the wiring pinout for the plug on the gauge cluster for an '86 F-150 with the full cluster, tach and all, as well as the one for an '88 F-350 Lariat Diesel?

My '86 is sitting at a friend's now completely stripped of the interior and glass being prepped for paint, since I had it all out I decided the blue carpet, and bucket seats from the diesel would suit it a bit better then the ratched red interior that was in it.

Im now at the point where I have figure out what to do with the dash, I have a blue dash from an '84 XLT but no door panels... Should I keep the old style dash and just run the 88's panels or just swap to the newer dash and change out the sending units on the engine, modify the dash wiring, etc?

I'm going from Grey to Blue paint, just to clarify why the switch to a blue interior, and the work to do it really doesn't scare me.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can't swap dashes. The sending units work opposite and have different values starting in 87. Basically, anything from about 81 thru 86 should plug in and work with no wiring if it has gauges and not idiot lights.

Do a search. There's someone on here that did that with the dash, just can't remember who. But it did seem like a LOT of work IIRC.

Franklin, I'm aware of the sending units, the 300 in my truck is from an '88 F150. I said they would all be swapped out, the fuel sender in my case is a little magnetic gauge with a sender built in its mounted to my propane tank with 2 screws and doesn't send a signal to the dash anyway it sucks crawling under the truck to check the fuel by the way. The wiring is can't be too hard with diagrams though.

Kedwin, I figured someone had but was unable to find anything, I'll keep searching. I did just remember today I'd have to swap the heater as well, not sure I want to go through all that at this point since the heater core in the '86 is 3 weeks old. Then again, the diesel had a brand new one as well.

Once I see what all is involved it will help with the descision.
