Engine Problems...

Okay now im only 16 so i'm not that good with all the mechanical parts of the engine outside of the engine block. But I was on my way to the barn tonight and started smelling a burning smell. I tried to tell my mom it wasnt normal but, being a woman, she insisted it was the heater and we kept driving. Anyways we made it to the barn ok but when we were about to leave i cranked it and it started knocking and squealing. So i turned it off and went to check under the hood and once again my mom told me it was fineand we would look at it at the house. So we got to the gate and everything went to hell. Brakes went out, power steering went out. So i turned it off and water was all over the top of the turbo cover and other parts. So we called my dad to come get us and he said the pulley connected to the fan that ran the water pump was moving back and forth about an inch and he thinks it may be the water pump which sprayed water which caused the belt to slip which in turn caused all my power stuff to go out. Does anybody else have any idea what the problem may be?
Any Advice Helps,
Thanks -Tanner

Sounds like your belt let go, was the belt gone? The belt is what turns the power steering pump which also runs the hydro boost brakes. If the fan clutch is loose, the fan may have gotten into the radiator which would explain the knocking noise and water all over the place. The above post is some good advise for a young man though.......women are always right even when you know they're not!
