I have a 66 Ford F-250 with a 300 6cyl.
It has a Carter CY carburetor with a manual choke.
The heat riser is functioning properly.
If the truck sits a couple of days it is hard to crank.
Any other time it cranks fine and runs fine.
Any input would be appreciated.
Is it turning over slow or just takes longer to start? If just takes longer, fuel evaporates out of the bowls, or is leaking into intake. Slow cranking would indicate electrical problem.
+1 on the fuel evaporating out of the bowls, since it sounds like its cranking normally, just not firing.
when mine's been sitting for a while, i let it crank for 5-6 seconds, to give the fuel pump time to fill the fuel bowls. then i pause, pump the pedal a couple of times, and crank it again. vroom!
