Yes. The AIS filter doesn't add any noise. The 38R does.

I have the same question. I currently have the 38r and 6637. Wondering how much it will quiet down with the AIS instead of 6637.

The noise can't justify the cost. Mine is what I would call a lil loud but I'd rather hear it than pay for the AIS. Just me! Tell ya what either I'm use to the 38r now and my mud tires that it doesn't really seem to be all that loud in the cab. Towing may be a lil different!

Theres a guy on here Terry that has one with AIS, 38R, 238 sticks and I beleave Banks exhaust and I couldn't even tell he had it in there. So I would think the AIS is worth the investment if you don't want the noise. Thats the way I'm going here in calif. because I don't have a choice with the smog checks.

Any more feed back on this combo?

I realize the 38R is responsiable for the noise,it seems the AIS helps cut the noise from the 38R.

My better half drives our EX.

If the AIS cuts the noise then I might be able to put in the 38R and SS injectors and get away with it, with out, the mention that it is louder then before the mods?

I mentioned in the begining I have a S+B intake which is loud.
Thats my thoughts on this one.

I had an afe stage 2 with my 38r and it was so loud I couldn't stand it...towing would be nuts. I replaced the intake with the ais and have been happy ever since.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being were your AFE was) were did the AIS drop the noise level down to?

What type of noise do you here now? And were do you here it from, front or rear at exhaust?

I have that combo and it is only a little tinny bit louder than stock. The 38r does make a bit more of a whistle out the tail pipe but I have to have my window down to hear it. The 38r will pull the filter indicator almost into the red. I have a fender sleeve on the bench wiating to go in, hopefully this weekend. I am hoping the sleeve will not add too much noise.
I did have a 6637 with stock turbo and could not stand the noise. The sound of a 300 HP vaccuum cleaner gets to you on a long trip.

Paul let us know if noise increases with the fender sleeve. Also if it helps the filter indicator. Thats the way I going when I switch to 38R. Be nice if the 6.0L filter was a
direct change over. Bigger filter. Although I think Robin has that setup and makes lots
of HP.

You could also probably get a Banks Air intake system, its covered like the AIS one, but I'll bet gives at least a mild kick in your pants. I'm thinking of getting one instead of the AFE stage 2. Autoplicity.com has them for 306$ shipped...I actually just posted this on another thread...Hrm...Oh well

Thanks for the replys.

I haven't researched the AIS other then what I started with this post.

Does it flow more air then stock.

Any issues with EGT'S using the AIS and Sticks/38R.

I'm also interested in this. That's the one thing that's been keeping me from buying the 38R. Right now with a ported housing and a 6637, the whistle while towing is almost unbearable. I love it around town but the pitch changes under the load of my 8K lb TT and it's CONSTANT.
