Airbag question

I smashed up the front end of my 2002 Escape, the air bags deployed. I get a airbag fault code 19 which means the RCM, the restraint control monitor data is full. After replacing the airbags can the RCM be cleared with one of those diagnostic tools or does it have to be replaced? I've read both versions online.

If you crashed it hard ehough to pop the airbags, it is probably a total. What's it worth, $9000? The airbags are probably close to $2000. What else is buggered up?????? You on your own here or is the insurance man involved?

The RCM must be replaced after an air bag deployment.
