I have a 98 Expedition 4x4 with the 4.6, I recently had a back issue and cant crawl under the truck and trace where the 2 lines are coming from/to. It seems to be a factory cooler and I also know its not a trans cooler for I have done a trans filter change and know that the trans lines goes right to the rad. Does anyone know what this cooler is for, I may have to wait till by back isnt killing me to trace the lines.
If it's 4-8 row (or maybe 6-8, can't remember what the non-tow package ones were equipped with) it's the transmission cooler. If it's a simple 2 row loop it's the power steering cooler. The expeditions run quite heavy on the front with a good deal of stock rubber. A weight balanced trailer increases it moreso. It was deemed necessary to give the PS pump it's own cooler.
