The diesel die bards will say no but for 6 times a year gas may be a better choice. How are fuel prices there? Here in Ny diesel hasn't fallen as fast as gas so the price difference has gone from 60 to 70 cents more for diesel. My dsl truck uses less gallons than my gas truck but usually costs the same or more to fill. The 6.2 will pull that trailer fine. The 8k for diesel will come back if you trade but it's higher payments while you have it and you need to buy horse **** for it so it's a toss up. Either engine will do it.
Fuel diff is about 50 cents. I was looking at fuel MPG threads and the 250's with the 6.7' were only getting 10 - 12 MPG average. One or two got 13-14. So I am afraid of a 350 with a 11500 gvwr gas.
Looking at the trucks body builders layout book....page 9, I am looking at the 4x4 crew cab, 156.2 WB, and 6.7L --- 11500 gvwr --- would give me 2681# of payload. I did some # crunching with camper and all my stuff....worst case payload would be around 3000-3300# (way more than I thought). But I think having the king pin weight well below the payload rating....I'm ok with the final number being over.
Going to the drw for me is just not me. I need to find out if there is a different license process or amount for a gvwr of 11500 vs 10000# and call dealer to work up a build.
