HI ,
I'm J.R. live in South Central PA.
Retired from teaching after 35yrs. Got my Pilot's license in May, and am now running a small construction/remodeling business with my best friend.
I had a S-10 xtreme but could not haul a 2x4 without cutting it 1/2.
My wife said" You've worked hard all your life, Get the truck of your dreams"
Wrong thing to say>>> Within a month I located and bought my 2007 F350 XL chassis cab.( Magnum truck sales Lima, Ohio )
Had a diamond plate flatbed made for it with under bed tool boxes.
Got some custom fit mossy oak breakup seat covers, Upgraded the headunit to a 6 disc-Mp3, replaced the stock speakers with J.L.Audio/ Diamond audio 3ways, & a powered 8' sub.
Installed a temp/compass rear view mirror and bug guard to keep the stones/bugs off my nice red truck.
Bought the truck with 21K on it has 25K on it now > LOVE THE TRUCK!!
Would have liked better gas mileage 11>16 Best
Would like to have key less entry (working on that)
Welcome to FTE! Congrats on your truck, definitely sounds like you earned it!
I am also working on my private pilots licence.. just on hold for a while.
What engine do you have?
The 5.4 is a great engine! that is also what i am running. i highly recommend you look into an SCT X3 tuner with custom tunes by mike @ 5 star. you fill find he is talked about all over this forum for excellent tuning and customer service. i just got mine about 2 weeks ago and its like an entirely new truck (better MPG too)
I cant remember the year, but a flight academy owns them and i have most of my hours in an older Piper Cherokee and a few in a Piper warrior. i believe i have around 26 hours...unfortunately right as my instructor said i was doing great and ready to solo was when i had to stop i fly out of KHFD in hartford, CT which is actually a fairly big field. i believe its 4200x150, so practing landings were very easy here. It was a whole new experience when he took me to some of the smaller fields that are just a single runway that are 50' wide! cant wait to continue eventually after college!
Welcome to FTE and to owning a Super Duty. You have a great truck there. I'm like acf6 in that I had to stop my training as well. I only needed one last solo cross country and the final check ride and i would have been finished when I ran out of money. i figured I would take a break and then get back to it. That was 17 years ago. I miss flying, and I keep telling myself that now that I can afford it I need to go back and finish. Now time is the problem. Just not enough of it...
Got the 5.4 , Yea I know stock ford power plant but solid as a rock !
Where I live it's 10 mile to get diesel and don't care for the smell.
I don't tow a lot , Small 5x10 tool trailer occasionally and the 5.4 doesn't know it's back there.
Got my recreational license June 21st ( the day the world was to end)
fly a 1970 cessna 150 & a friend's 140 from a small Grass field (Cove Valley Airport 6G6 .
Keep working on yours it's well worth it!!!!!!
Thanks for the reply
J.R.
What smell? like when you fill up? You get a more pungent smell with gas... Just my opinion. 10 miles from a diesel pump. I deal with the same thing... never a problem.... But oh well your happy with your purchase and thats all that counts... have fun with it, looks good btw
Yea the SCT X3 tuner with custom tunes by mike @ 5 star sounds just what I am looking for ! Where and how do I get one sep up for my 350 chassis cab???
Welcome! I joined a few months back but had completely forgotten I did and have been cruising the forums almost daily without ever bothering to log in. Decided I would "register" and realized my email was already in use haha.
I would say I'm a new member as well. JR, I like the truck man, looks sharp!
I'm running a 2v 5.4L in a 2002 F250 std cab/8 ft box. She's got 117k on her and runs like a dream still.
Quick question for you folks out there if anyone reads this: I'm running 2.5" exhaust from the cat back to a flowmaster classic 40 which dumps out in front of the rear wheel. My hopes were that with the shorter distance the exhaust had to travel that I would gain better velocity and therefore maintain low end ooomfff. Should I have kept everything at 3" even though I shortened the distance the exhaust needs to travel?
