carb sugestions please

I need you guys to help me pick a carb. I've got a .040 over 390, balanced and blue printed. 10:1 CR. C4ae heads, 2.09 in's, port-matched. Cam is: 292/292 adv dur, .510/.510 lift, 110 lobe c/l. (hyd). Edelbrock Rpm (port matched). flowtech headers, pertronics conversion. C-6 w/shift kit. 4:56 gears. 3/4 ton '66 2WD. I'm leaning towards the edelbrock 750, would that be too big. Would a 625 be too small. I'm looking for any and all opinions.

my 2cents, the 750 would be a good choice. you may want to go a little bigger on the Cam. It doesn't appear to have much lift and you might want a dual pattern cam. is this going to be hauler, or mostly a cruiser.

Use the search feature for the forum, there have been many Cam/Carb discussions with lots of good info.

Go with the 750. I have a 625 Demon jr on my stock 360 in my 76 F250 and it runs a little on the lean side. I dont know about the edelbrock carbs but make sure you will be able to use you linkage. When i went from a holley to the demon it was hell, i had to get a spacer, modify my linkage and i still havent figured out how to hook my kick down rod (C6 auto trans)

I like to think of carbs this way, 100CFM FOR EVERY 1000rpm you plan on turning plus an extra 100cfm for whatever. It ain't the size of the carb that makes a lean condition it's adjustments and jetting etc, I ran a 480 4v on a 390 no probs, good power to 4000rpm and 16mpg. 600 or a bit more keeps a 390 well fed to just about 5000rpm. thats my .02 hope it helps
