I did as well, still run them. Have 2 that were from when I was a kid, the 3rd was a replacement. All are IH, a 966,856, and the 684 was late to the party. The first diesel pickup we had is still here, an 84 F250 6.9

Will be 58, married 39 yrs this May. Drove truck and mechanic's right out of high school. Leased my first semi truck at 23, bought first semi truck at 26. Specialized in over size loads.

Economy in the 80's along with de-regulation advised getting out of trucking. Went to work for Hercules AeroSpace at the missle test range in the Utah west desert. The site was on Indian land which reverted back to the tribe plus the slow down in the space industry closed that job.

Father in law and I started a construction co. We got plenty of work but bid peddling by clients puts a dampener on profits. Residential is the worst, people want a golden job at a lead price.

Now retired. 2 kids, both long gone 30 and 36 yrs old, 5 grandkids. Not even a dog anymore. Had to put down my 16 yr old alaskan malamute 2 yrs ago, hurt to bad to go though again.

Life in a nutshell 8^)

39 here, Toolmaker/machinist by trade, did that from 18 until 3 years ago when the slowdown in the automotive and electronics (communications mostly, as in nortel) reduced the company I was with from 400 to 80.

I'd been doing mini-excavating as a sideline for a few years, so went full time into excavating since then, snow in winter, and wrenching, welding, or whatever else comes along in between it all.

Married 13 years this spring, and have an 11 year old son.

43, 4 kids (2 grown). They live with thier mom up in Indiana. I live with the best woman in the world (understands that my truck is my baby). I am a welder fabricator and have been since I was 11/12 yrs old. It runs in the family, my dad is one, his dad and my moms dad as well lol. I got into diesel a few years ago but always wanted one. My dad has always hated them and so did my ex so till I got with Dawn I was "restrained" lol. When my kids are all grown Dawn and I would like to fall off the grid in southeast Kentucky.
