My brother went on a binge in the desert of southern Utah one Friday night, after work. When he got home that Sunday night, his wife was madder than a wet hen. His excuse was the muffler bearing went out on the truck and he had to walk back to town. His FIL worked at an auto parts store, so his wife called daddy and asked how much to replace the part. Dad promptly said 300 bucks. Guess what? Hubby was gone on a bender for the next 2 days. His excuse was it took time to replace it.
When I went to boot camp in the Navy they'd always tell us noobs to get things like bulkhead remover or ID10-t forms... I told my son the other day to get me some headlight fluid. Kept him busy for a while...
hey I actually had to replace the muffler bearings in an old volvo 740t I had!
just a few months ago I had my ncoic tell me to get him some squelch grease (I work in electronics) I asked him if he wanted me to take the keys to the drop zone and grab a box of grid squares too...
when i was younger and dumber i had a job at an auto parts store, and guys from the other stores in the chain would call and mess with me all the time asking for those fictional parts which i would go look in the book for and never find...
anyway, one day a real customer called and asked for a petcock valve for something and i just laughed and hung up on him. twice.
he ended up just coming down to the store and my boss took care of him...
after that, no matter how ridiculous i though the part name was, i would just look it up anyway...
Back in High School, My friend had a tun signal out, A very attractive blonde, very book smart...but extremely ditzy and gullible...We sent her to about every part store in the area for Blinker Fluid. She ended up getting cussing out the last place, since no one anywhere had it lol.
And I used to work at a auto parts store in one of the not-so-nice parts of town...A guy came in needing just the front left-inner pad for his new Jag. I told him that we only sell brake pads in front sets and rear sets...He kept insisting that he bought a single pad before from my store, Once the manger caught air of it. he also explained to him that we dont, never had and never will.
