Frankentruck issues

I currently spent a year building this truck. I took a 351 windsor motor and drivetrain out of an 85 and put it in a 97 eddiebaur f150. Got everything where it should be and drove it home. Here are my two problems. When i want to start it now for some reason i have to pour gas into the carb, because its not delivering like it should and two i started the truck and for some reason the lights were dim. i shut off the lights and ten minutes later they were bright again, i took the truck down the road and the battery died. My alt is putting out the correct amps but somethings not working right. any help would be greatly aprieciated. anyone who does this sort of thing knows the amount of effort i had to put into this so you can understand how bad i would like this truck to just run correctly

As for the electrical issue, sounds like a bad battery, or a really bad drain somewhere

Make sure the alt is putting out 14.4 volts.

Is the carb adjusted properly? Might be a leak at the bowl.

yeah im gonna replace the carb and see if that makes any difference, now if my voltage regulator wire wasnt hooked up right would those electrical symptoms act like that?
