split metal on f150s

My 99 f150 reg. cab has a split in the sheet metal on the door at the lower rear corner of the window. I saw this condition on several 99 f150s. What is the cause of this? What is the best way to fix it? Does Ford offer any compensation? Shoulda bought a dodge

Yeah, it's much cheaper to rebuild the Dodge trannies over and over again than it is to fix some body work.

My 97 has the same thing. I had heard that it was a defect, but had been fixed on later models. Buy the time mine happened it was well out of wrty. Also the back slider on my year were bad about leaking. The plastic frame crakes. I replace the back window with and aftermarket.
