one too many wire.

Hi guys,

I got from Number Dummy

1965/74 Econoline & F100/350 240 I-6 / 1965/96 F100/350 300 I-6 / 1969/96 Econoline 300 I-6 / 1980/96 Bronco 300 I-6

F2TZ-11002-A (replaced: E4TZ-11002-A, E3TZ-11002-A, E1TZ-11002-A, D7TZ-11002-A, D4TZ-11002-D, C5TZ-11002-D, C5TZ-11002-A) .. 240/300 Starter-Use with M/T.

So i purchased the correct starter...(and yes when it come to electrical, i was handed the short end of the stick)

well, it has an extra lead on it.... black.

so where do i connect my starter cable.... where the lead is or the other connector???

Thanks

G

Can you post a pic of this "extra" wire? The starter should have one post for the starter cable. I can't picture what you are refering to. Never seen a extra wire....

Your starter looks like this; correct? http://starterpros.com/Result.asp?IDNum=9769

That new starter is a PMGR mini starter. It has a solenoid mounted on the starter itself. It can be made to work with some wiring changes. But it's not the OEM style starter. The parts store gave you the wrong starter.

If all you're wanting to do is replace your original with the factory style and not have to mess with anything else, you'll need to take that back. The one shown in OldStyle's picture is the correct type (no solenoid).

The OP in another thread...asked for the Ford part number for a 1978 F100 300 I-6 starter w/a 3 speed manual trans.

Since the 1978 part number had been replaced, and had replaced previous part numbers, I listed all the part numbers and their applications.
