I'd say the highest HP setting you have, maybe try a tank on each of your chip positions & see which one gives the best economy.

I've also heard the highest/most aggressive position. I haven't tried it yet though, I rarely go more then 40 miles without a trailer.

The settings are 50hp 75hp 100hp 140hp. I've heard that the highest setting most of the time gets you the best mileage but i've always been eerie about running it on the 140hp setting for a whole tank

i would think the 40 hp setting will get the best economy, drove the truck last winter on a 400 mil trip empty @75 mph and got 19 mpg. i never tryed the other setting so i dont know if thay are better or not.let us know how you did and witch setting you used have a safe trip.

50, 75 and 100 should use the same amount of fuel at a steady speed on the highway. The same amount of energy is needed to move the same mass at the same speed no matter what tune you're in. It's when you put your foot into it that each hgher HP tune uses more fuel.

I've done highway mileage calculations in 4 different tunes, stock, 40E, 60E and 80E, and they are so close that the only real difference could be chalked up to driving conditions.

Driving down the highway at 65, with cruise control set, I switched through each tune and accept for a slight fluctuation the HPOP gauge would settle and show the same pressure in each tune. The HPOP pressure determines fuel delivery so each tune was essentially using the same amount of fuel at a constant speed.

That's the beauty of the Powerstroke. With the right engine mods you can double the HP and get the same highway mileage.

On the highway driving conditions and driving style will determine MPG more than which setting you choose.

My KT Performance 6 position chip has a 80 HP Daily Driver setting, a 100 HP Performance setting, and a 65 HP Tow setting and has different fuel curves and shift points in each one...Kenny Thompson suggested I run the 80 HP Daily Driver for best fuel economy and use the 100 HP Performance when needing/wanting performance - such as to pass in a hurry, etc. and when performance is the main goal instead of best economy. I've just installed it so I don't have any hard info on the economy as of yet...

So, going by Kenny's advice and having never saw a 100 HP economy setting offered by anyone, I'd tend to think that your 75 HP setting would be better economy wise...it seems that the 80 HP (or there about) setting is recommended the most for economy in our year range engines with lower HP settings used for towing and higher HP settings used for performance...

What PaysonPSD said sounds about right...I figure the best economy depends on how far we push our right foot in whatever setting we're in!

What fuel mileage do you get running the 100 HP setting?

Thats the answer I got from the man that burned my chip!
Unless I'm pulling my 5'r I'm in my 100hp tune.

If I was eerie about any of the tunes on my chip I'd be looking for a new tuner

With that said I believe you have Tony's tunes so you shouldn't have any worries

Haha i just always heard running the high hp settings were harder on the motor. ill run it on a whole tank with the 140hp setting and see what i get. no promises on great mileage though...its just to hard to keep my foot out of it on that setting

Stock injectors cant make much over xtra 100hp with tuning. 140hp tune is for smoke and high EGT's and CP's. Kind of a dumb idea IMHO.

My tuner explained his tunes are more or less the same from his 'stock' to 100hp - with different shift strategy for tow tunes. He also told me (like Franko) that he gets best MPG's in the 100 tune - but thats not what I've found. I live in the mountains and it seems to use more fuel in the higher settings.

Fwiw, my X made more HP than most of the 'live tuned' trucks at RRE last summer and runs lower EGT's than any I've seen...

Ouch! ... I drive gently and I've done a little better than that running mine stock...I was hoping the chip would get me a little more??? My average so far before adding the chip is 16.55 MPG over 16 fillups ...
