ok i got tranny troubles but first ill tell you what i did1 i got a 1989 f150 5 speed 2 wh drive. The truck when i got it had a 4 speed borg warner, and i put the 5 speed in it. now i got 2 prolblems
1) i can only start the truck from under the hood.
2)the trans will shift fine if the engine is off but will not shift in the engine is running.
Ive put a new master clutch line on it, and ive put a new slave clyender on it. and ive bleed the system 2 times. what am i doing wrong any ideas??????
For the starting problem it would seem like the clutch interlock safety switch, for some reason, is not working. Look under the dash at the clutch linkage and you should see the switch, make sure that the clutch linkage bushings are good and that there is no firewall flex when the clutch pedal is pushed.
If you want you could jump the two wires at the switch to bypass it.
For the shifting problem are you sure that the clutch plate was fitted the right way round? Also check the pedal bushings, as above and also the firewall for flexing.
