I like Mystic JT8 synthetic blend for my truck...but it's not the only oil that meets the requirements. My only complaint about Rotella T6 or Valvoline Blue is the price...$25+ a gallon ...and that's at WalMart. That's two gallons of Mystic for me, and I'm racking up 5k miles every 6-8 weeks. I'm not going to condemn you if you want to use T6 or Valvoline Blue...I can't justify that kind of expenditure for my truck. To each their own.

They also help prevent coking in the turbo due to the excessive heat.
Not necessarily.... I have ~ 160k miles on my turbo and it produces that same quick spooling boost since it was new.
No coking problems from running mostly Delvac 1300. The Delvac includes the trinuclear moly which is suppose to be the best moly availabe and this oil turns out steller OUA and keeps the engine very clean.

If I knew it had trinuclear moly I'd have switched to it years ago. Sorta like shell gas fortified with nitrogen.

Most if not all automotive turbo manufactures suggest using synthetic motor oil if the turbo is not water cooled. The coking is not a problem when vehicle is in operation, it's when a vehicle is shut down and there is no more oil flow. A turbo on a gas engine generates more heat then a diesel and the use of synthetic oil helps prevent coking even more so. The first 90,000 miles on my 2003 I was using what ever my Ford dealer buys in bulk or Motorcraft 15w-40 when I changed it. The next 60,000 I switched to Rotella synthetic. I also have the original turbo.
I recommend Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 5W-40. I actually use Mobil 1 oil in EVERYTHING I own. My ATV's, lawnmower, pressure washer, generator, my wife's nissan pathfinder.... anything that requires oil. My dad works on big rig's as a mechanic. About 10-12 years ago a company that did not disclose it's name came into the shop and proposed an experiment to the owner. The experiment was to take 6 brand new trucks which I believe had 550 Catepillar engines in them and use this "mystery" oil for 500,000 miles. The deal was that the original oil had to stay in the truck. They changed the oil filter at the regular interval which I believe was 25,000 miles and nothing else. If the oil was low after the filter change just add more mystery oil. In addition if there was anything that the engine had to be pulled apart for, the oil had to be drained into a container and re-used once the engine was back together. After 500,000 miles these trucks were brought in and the engines were pulled and completely disassembled for inspection. Just for an example, when the oil pan was removed, my father said he literally wiped them off with rags and the oil pans looked brand new. Anyone who knows diesel engines knows that is almost impossible. After the testing and inspections were done the company came forth with the oil and it was fully synthetic Mobil oil. Since then that is all the both of us have used in anything requiring oil. It is definitely expensive but I have had proof myself with my ATV. Myself, my brother and two cousins went and bought brand new ATV's together. They were Honda 450R's. I used Mobil 1 right from day one. My brother used the fully synthetic Honda oil as well as one of the cousin's. The other cousin used Castrol synthetic. My 450R is the ONLY one out of the 4 that has not had to be pulled apart for engine work. In addition, I have had to make less valve adjustments etc... I am a big believer in Mobil 1 products and I highly suggest it to anyone who asks my opinion.
That's entirely up to you. I run a synthetic blend (without looking I don't know what the ratio is). Granted I've only got 107k on the engine...I have no issues. The few times I've had the rocker boxes open for injector work (dam low fuel pressure) a buddy of mine commented on how clean everything was in there.
I look at oil brand/style choices like your underwear. Some folks wears breifs; while others wear boxers or thongs. To each their own as long as it's getting the job done.
