Okay I have had no success in the I-6 forum, the only thing I got from there was it sounds like its pocessed. Okay heres my problem, it all started when my power steering belt came off, it also flipped both alt. belts upside down, so I went to replace them, and guess what, the alt. bolt was stripped, I was angered so I torched the thing off, replaced it, and it works fine. Then the pwr steering belt came off again, I replaced the pwr steering pump, because it had like and 1" of play in it, it seemed to work fine and dandy. I took it down the road only like 5 miles, came home opened the hood, and the powersteering belt is turned inside out and on the pulley. I fliped it back and everytime I leave it flips again. and there is no change in steering while i'm driving, i'm getting sick of it i might just leave it upside down. So what is it, do any of you know, i posted here since it is a 78 F-150. It's a 300-6 with: no a/c or smog crap, just engine, pwr steering, and alt. So any help would be great!! Thanks guys.

I agree it sounds like a bent or misaligned pulley.Does the P/S pulley wobble slightly when running?Or any of the pulleys that have to do with the P/S belt.
I am so happy now, My poor truck had power steering problems and it has taken me 2 months to get to the root of evil. I now have a new alternator (whole other story) and a new power steering pump, regardless of what autozone tells you, it is misaligned. I put it in and it kept fliping belts over and throwing them off. I had no clue what it was until I used the string test to see the 1\2 the pully set back. So needless to say I used some unorthodox redneck engineering to make the pulley move, made some steel plates to bump it out a little bit. Now my baby is back to tearing up the ricers and chebies! Thank you guys for the hint that it might be misaligned!
