i agree. he may make a lot of noise about it, but once he uses it, he will continuing to use it.

His daughter has been helping him get in and out of the house. She has been battling a type of cancer herself. So the ramp is really for her and the girlfriend.
I don't like the install, just me, but it is MUCH, MUCH better than vinyl. More upkeep, painting and caulking. I know that the appraisal value and insurance value should be better. They appraise them as mason homes in this area. There was someone on the forum here that mentioned how their hardi held up really good in a hail storm. Forgive me for not remembering who. Just do some research and make sure that it's installed correctly. Prep is almost the same as the old ship lap siding.
I kicked around the idea of just going to wood siding, been around for a few hundred years..... Then I saw the take on Hardi sidings new approach, but have not been around or even laid my hands on one piece. Owners want micro wave fast-cheap-siding (The industry responded) that looks nice and most are covering up sins to flip the place or never gave thought to the long term effect.
There are some better vinyl options, but they are more expensive than traditional vinyl. The hardi will not rot... just everything behind it, if not installed properly. Of course that can happen with vinyl too.
