Are you worried about 4wheeling and need the skid plate? Those things are just salt catchers and tank rotters. If not, just throw the regular straps under the tank and roll.
Worried about hitting stuff when off-roading! I don't really have anything to fab with, so that's why I have been looking. Currently only have the skid plate that goes under the transmission, works great, but its from 87+ truck, so it hangs down ridiculously low compared to the 80-86 ones. Thought I had found another one for the transmission yesterday at the JY, but got under there and it was mangled! Still have not seen one for the gas tank, but if the factory ones are only good for rotting out the tank, then I should probably just get some stuff to make my own!
Hi guys, new here, this is my first post. Just got an 83 F250 and it probably needs more than a few things. The main thing bothering me at the moment is basically what Sw1tchfoot already posted, the center dashboard bezel in fake wood color. The prior owner trashed the radio slot and screwed his GPS holder right into the "XLT" letters. Then he installed an aux fuel pump switch next to his GPS bracket. Looks real ghetto, and insults my pride every time I get in the cab.
If anyone finds such a thing obviously let Sw1tchfoot know first. I'm just wondering how rare such components are, and what kind of treasure hunt I may be in for. I couldn't even find a wrecking yard in the local area that had Ford trucks from this year range... which I took as a bad sign.
LMC seems to carry these bezels for later years but I didn't see anywhere that had them for 80-86. I'm still unschooled so if they're available somewhere new I don't know about, clue me in.
I'm still looking for a 1980-1984 Rosewood radio bezel that says "XLT" and has the factory clock cut-out. Even if you just see one for sale on another site feel free to throw me the link.
I have an XLT bezel with some kind of wood grain, don't know if it's 'rosewood' or not. It has a full cutout for a radio. I am considering replacing my non-cut-out non-XLT bezel with a different kind of wood grain, since I have a aftermarket radio currently hanging out of a giant hole in the dash.
Not ready to deal with this issue for about another month. I have a giant backlog of truck projects that need me attention NOW, but send me a PM & I will keep it on file.

See my note to Sw1tchfoot. It is possible to patch plastic such as that used in bezels with epoxy putty, it can be molded while and after it hardens, and the white hardened putty takes paint very well.
I also use epoxy putty to repair badly damaged structural plastic - you can embed pieces of metal into the putty before it cures or apply the soft putty around metal brackets for additional strength, cutting away excess hardened epoxy is easy to do with a Dremel tool
Looking for an assistant like the one on the left of this photo
Going out to a local junkyard in 22 deg F weather. Will be dressed like the man in the center of the photo. The guards there wear different uniforms but have the same facial expressions.
Would very much like a junkyard assistant such as the one on the left.
