2004 6.0L, No Start

With all the no start threads, this may not make folks very happy but I am kinda stuck. I just finished replacing the EGR cooler with a delete kit, new oil cooler, new up-pipe. Everything went well until i tried to update the STC which doesn't exist on an '04. I had the cover off to make that genius discovery. Everything is back together, started, stumbled, quit and now no start. No codes. From the No Start help in the tech folder I have gone through steps 1-10, 11 (there was fresh fuel in the uppper fuel filter, changed filter), 12 -no oil pressure registering on dash, although I honestly don't know if it ever did before start up, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, all done. I don't have tools to do the rest. Am i heading to the dealer? Please tell me no? Also, it the exterior body of the ICP supposed to be able to rotate? Thanks much and happy new year everyone!

all I can think of it the IPR got Junked

Pull it and check the screen see if cloged pushed up in or torn and if any apply replace it

and other than that you will need some gauges at the very minimum AE would be the ticket and if not Probably off to the dealer

Benny, you have helped me on the project, more than you know. As I have said before, stupid is as stupid does! I was confused. I have been screwing around with the IPR, not the ICP. Duh.... I reconnected the IPR and disconnected the ICP and she fires. Won't run, but she fires. Is it safe to assume the ICP is bad? If so, I really have to take the valve cover off?

Oh ya

Interesting so you unhook the ICP and it starts or what

does the ICP sensor have oil blown thru it and an oil soaked pigtailwire

are both icp AND ipr under the turbo on your truck

It actually doesn't run, just fires and then quits. Is this the correct behavior for default mode? No oil visible on the sensor or the pigtail. Replace? It's 30 degrees out, so I'll pull it in the morning and look at the screen. I assume it just unscrews? Again, thanks so much! Have a very happy new year!

how long have you been cranking it does take a few to get all the air out

Mine did that when I had the HPO system apart upon first crank it would almost start that first cycle of the key but then it would have to pump all that air out

so how long have you been cranking it over

Oh, hadn't thought 'bout that. Crank time, maybe a minute. Run time 30 sec +/-? More cranking?

Id say you still have air in the lines

It usually takes me 2 minutes of cranking to get the air out and then it will startup

I would crank like 20 seconds rest for a few check the oil leavel while resting and then crank another round

keep trying to crank

Did it run for 30 seconds Im confussed

Well, this is interesting. I went out and it started right up, ran smoothly for 30 seconds, got very rough, so I turned it off. I will work it in the morning and see where it goes. Will it run normally or is the rough running because the ICP is unplugged? Thoughts?

plug the ICP in and when it starts dont kill it they take a few minutes to work the air out

unless you hear some Horried grinding noise or something let it run after it gets warm take it for a few WOT runs and that will purge the air

But running alittle choppy for a few minutes or so after the HPO system been worked on is Normal

Do you have a block heater. Plug that in for 3 hours before trying to crank the truck. This will take the cold oil high pressure vs. the warm oil high pressure out of the equation. Do you have any gauges to monitor the engine with KOEO and when running warm at idle? This will give us some more info to help you.

Where is your ICP located? Under the turbo or on the right valve cover?

No, no block heater. We're kinda pansies in the NW. We think it's cold when have to scrape your windshield. I do have a scangaugeII that I'll be looking at once it runs for a few minutes.

keep an eye on that oil leval for thefirst few you may need to add as the air works its way out

I think your Fine and should go ahead and plug the ICP sensor in and start it up again

The 6.0 isnt like a Gasser that will Startup pretty fast after majoir work It is alittle Scary the first time you go thru it I thought the worst to But its Normal

Just gotta get the air out the HPO system let it get to Operating temp 190 ECT and go for a few WOT runs to purge the air out.
Iv had it Purge an air pocket out 25 miles after the work its normal and will work its way out no problem
