I have a 1990 f150 custom 4.9 (300-6) that is mated to a C6 transmision. when i got this truck, i quickly learned that he E4OD wasnt in the truck and that he seller had swapped out the transmission and not old me what he had done, anywho.... I NEED TO FIND A down shift linkage assembly going from the fuel injected intake to the transmission, i have just spent 2 hours looking throughout he web and google and havent come up with anything, I DO KNOW from what i have read, ford did pair up the 4.9 with the C6 but not alot of them were done. does anyone know where i need to look for these parts???? apparently i need from the throtle bracket to the transmision... any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Go on eBay and find a lokar aftermarket kickdown for c6. It comes with a bracket for trans and then a bracket you can retro fit onto the throttle linkage easily.
Just lOokup "c6 kickdown" and you'll see what I mean.
I personally hate the transmission kicking down. It always does it when you just want to give it a little gas not rev the motor to the moon. When I did my motor swap I left it off. With the C6 this won't hurt anything. If it was an AOD and he left the tv cable off the trans would be done by now.
downshift linkage from 87 to 91 with the 4.9 and C-6 will all be the same, and from 92 to 97 should work also.
with that being said, you would probably be better off using a cable setup because you can adjust the sensitivity of the kick-down better with a cable than you can with rods.
