for the oil change in my '93 7.3 liter diesel. Chilton's says 6 w/filter, another source says 12 w/filter. I think that 12 is correct, am I correct?
TIA
Use the PSD filter and you'll probably get 12 quarts in. I use Rotella and buy it by the gallon, so I just fill and check until it's topped off. Plus the bigger filter is supposed to filter better (so I've heard).
I also use Rotella T 15W40, I buy it by the 5 gal bucket. I've had my truck since new, and 157K now and still running fine.
Hey 94, the PSD filter adds that much capacity? I'm due for a change now, was actually going to do it today, think I'll give the PSD filter a try. Are there any problems putting it in there?
No problems using the PSD filter. Plenty of room. Supposed to add a quart capacity, I could be off a quart. It seems like 12 fits but it could be 11. You may have to push the break lines toward the cross member to get the filter started but not much. I fill the filter before installing. It won't spill(if it stays upright ). I use NAPA Gold filters made by WIX. Good stuff. I don't remember the part number right off hand.
