I have a 2002 7.3 diesel i've just done tons of work on, injectors, glow plugs, wire harness. New AC unit, starter, then had the oil changed and fuel filter, just a few daysafter the oil change the truck started to quit on me. (stall) I took it to a shop and they said it was the fuel pump.Located under the fuel filter. helping out I started to take it all apart for replacement . I found alot of crap in the bottom of filter tank. thinking it came from a failed fuel pump.I pulled and cleaned. pulled and replaced that fuel pump.put all back together. fill the oil tank to the top,Which I drained early. fill the fuel filter, checked all plugs and hoses then I checked the engine oil level and it was empty. I added 10 qts of oil befor it was full. that ment the oil change place only put in 5 qts and then I tried to start it. got nothing. Turns over but wont start. I heard you need to set the timing or tune it. have no glue. Can any buddy help with a answer.? Is that motor missed up now.
I am having trouble reading your post. But, basically, I think it says it quit running after an oil change and u had to put 10 qts in it to fill it up.
If that is correct, its gonna be a pain to crank. You need to make sure you keep a good charge on the batteries while u are turning it over to crank. Once u do get it cranked, it will probably run a little off for about 50 miles.
The chances of harming the motor are really low on these 7.3 trucks because the the injectors require oil to fire them. Without oil, it will not run so it cannot kill the engine in most cases.
You know though, you may need to check your ticket and see if it says what weight oil they put in it. If they did not know the qty of oil it held, there is a good chance they put some lightweight oil in it too. That could play a part in it too.
I suppose CPS could play a part in your issues but I really feel like it is probably gonna have to be turned over with good batteries to purge the air out of the high psi oil system.
